I am writing to bring to your attention the escalating safety concerns in the Harpley, Cornerstone, Little River, and Mambourin estates. Over the past year, we have observed a noticeable rise in crime, including vandalism, largely due to the lack of regular police patrols and the considerable distance to the nearest police station.

The Werribee Police Station, which currently serves these estates, is located 7.5 kilometers from Harpley Estate, 9 kilometers from Cornerstone Estate, 25 kilometers from Little River, and 10 kilometers from Mambourin Estate. This significant distance hinders timely police response and the ability to maintain regular patrols, thereby exacerbating safety concerns among residents.

According to recent data, Mambourin alone experienced 179 reported crimes in the past year, with a crime rate of 568.25 per 1,000 people. Of these, 21 were violent crimes, and 139 were property crimes, including theft, burglary, and property damage. In light of these pressing issues, I respectfully request the establishment of a satellite police station within the Harpley, Cornerstone, and Mambourin estates. This would significantly enhance the capacity for regular patrols, quicker response times, and a stronger sense of security among residents. The increasing instances of crime and the significant distance to the nearest police station make this a necessary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

Additionally, the estimated travel time to Mambourin is 25 minutes during peak hours, such as between 5 PM and 6 PM, further highlighting the need for a closer police presence.
